What you'll learn

  • Explain pixels, channels, bit depth, resolution and pixel density, and calculate image and video file sizes
  • Describe how sensors, color filter arrays and camera processing produce raw and processed files, and choose capture formats
  • Compare JPEG, HEIF, TIFF, PSD, PNG, WebP, AVIF and DNG, explain lossy and lossless compression and choose formats across a workflow
  • Distinguish containers and codecs, explain Long GOP, All-Intra, chroma subsampling and frame rates, and plan video storage
  • Explain color space primaries, white points, gamma, log encoding and HDR, and choose working and delivery spaces
  • Calibrate and profile displays, set up an editing environment, apply rendering intents and soft proof for print
  • Perform verified ingests with checksums, name files and structure folders consistently, and cull efficiently
  • Add Exif, IPTC and XMP metadata, build controlled vocabularies, manage catalogs and understand rights and Content Credentials
  • Edit non-destructively with parametric edits, virtual copies, presets and layers, version projects and use proxy workflows
  • Select HDDs, SSDs, RAID levels, NAS and cloud storage, identify bottlenecks and plan capacity tiers
  • Design 3-2-1-1-0 backups, defend against ransomware, test restores, archive for the long term and secure client data
  • Export for web, print and video delivery with correct size, sharpening, color and specifications, and document a complete workflow
