What you'll learn

  • Explain what makes data centre projects distinctive, the project life cycle and gates, stakeholders, governance and the cost of delay
  • Compare design-bid-build, CM, design-build, progressive design-build, IPD and EPCM, and select a delivery model with weighted criteria
  • Explain pricing arrangements and standard contract families, and evaluate key clauses including changes, liquidated damages and payment protection
  • Plan procurement strategy, prequalification and evaluation, and apply the legal framework of tendering fairly and ethically
  • Manage risk with registers and Monte Carlo contingency, allocate risk sensibly, and use insurance, bonds and delay rules
  • Build and analyse CPM schedules, identify the critical path in power-constrained projects, and compress schedules effectively
  • Prepare estimates by class, structure complete project budgets, and control cost with forecasts and earned value
  • Secure long-lead equipment through procurement strategies, order-date calculations, expediting, logistics and tariff allocation
  • Prepare for and conduct negotiations using interests, BATNA, ZOPA, integrative trade-offs, anchoring and ethical practice
  • Negotiate large-load connections and power supply with utilities, including ramp schedules and minimum demand exposure
  • Manage approvals, evaluate incentives, and engage municipalities and communities through enforceable commitments
  • Manage claims and disputes, decide on settlement with decision analysis, close out projects, and produce a project delivery plan
