- Recognize common electrical hazards at work, including damage, overloads, wet locations, improvised wiring and DC battery and solar systems
- Select, inspect and use cords, plugs, portable tools, power bars and generators safely
- Explain how grounding, bonding and GFCIs protect people, where ground fault protection is required and how to test it
- Apply limits of approach and safe work practices near overhead power lines and respond safely to line contacts
- Request locates, read locate marks and dig safely around buried utilities
- Distinguish qualified and unqualified persons and apply the limited and restricted approach boundaries
- Describe how an electrically safe work condition is established, including lockout and the live-dead-live test, and when energized work is justified
- Read arc flash labels and explain the arc flash boundary, incident energy, PPE categories and arc-rated clothing
- Keep working spaces and electrical rooms clear, reset breakers safely and respond to electrical shocks, burns and fires
